About
Girl Haggard . Country & Eastern
Formed in December 2008, in order to give its members something to do while drinking, other than stand around in barrooms. Girl Haggard’s goals were simple, and easily attained; play rock n roll and country music, loud and fast (while drinking beer and whiskey). Two months later, after being invited to play their first show, the band had a new addiction, playing live. Since then, the band has had the honor of sharing the stage with: Supersuckers, David Allan Coe, Wayne “The Train” Hancock, Drag the River, The Upper Crust, American Speedway, Sixgun Republic, Have Gun Will Travel, Wrong Reasons, Midnight Creeps, Sasquatch and the Sick-a-billys, Cobra-Matics, The Revival Preachers and many more. Their third show was the semi-finals of the 2009 WBRU Rock Hunt, and it seemed they were on to something, as the accolades kept coming. In 2009 Girl Haggard was nominated by The Providence Phoenix for Best Category Defying Act and by Motif Magazine as Breakthrough Act of the Year. At the 2010 Motif Music Awards, Girl Haggard won Best Americana Act of the Year. Although they are best enjoyed live, with whiskey, the band is releasing their debut album “Country and Eastern”, to help get you through those long, sleepless, lonely, sober nights between shows…
